2020 Timetable - Term One

Classical Ballet

Classical ballet is any of the traditional, formal styles of ballet that exclusively employ classical ballet technique. It is known for its aesthetics and rigorous technique, its flowing, precise movements, and its ethereal qualities.
The Academy of Classical Ballet provides a professional level of training with individual care. RAD Syllabus and Examinations available as well as Open Classical Classes and various complimentary training offered.

Jazzarina's & Pre-School

Jazzarina's
From 2 years of age. A creative class combining ballet, jazz, music and rhythm with foundation and fundamental elements of dance technique... lots of fun and designed to inspire a love of dance.

Pre-School and Primary Classes
Ballet and Jazz Classes for 4-6 year-old as they develop their love of dance and work towards more formal training.

Contemporary

New-age commercial Contemporary and Lyrical classes. The Academy's Contemporary classes focus on strong technique within creative and abstract dance as well as artistic expression within movement. Contemporary Dance is a much required industry aspect and complimentary training for all dancers of this era.

Jazz, Musical Theatre & Acrobatics

Jazz, Musical Theatre and Acro Classes for all ages, including an Acrobatics and Skills Class (similar to gymnastics) for junior students.

Students develop a strong dance technique whilst learning industry standard choreography in various styles of jazz including Broadway, Commercial, Hip-Hop and more. Students are challenged by the aspects of jazz and theatrical dance whilst enjoying funky and fun movement to up beat music as well as basic vocal training within our Musical Theatre Classes.

Junior Extension Training 

The JET Program is for students in Grade 5-6 who display an ability and facility for classical ballet and demonstrate dedication to the pursuit of excellence, combined with a desire to realise their full potential.

Ballet Examination Syllabus - Royal Academy of Dance


Royal Academy of Dance Examinations

The RAD offers an internationally-recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement.

The Graded Examination in Dance syllabus:
  • focuses on ballet (including elements of freer and progressive styles, appropriate for today’s dancer) and Character
  • includes Graded Examinations (Primary in Dance – Grade 8), Class Awards (Pre-Primary in Dance – Grade 3), Presentation Classes (Grades 4-8) and Solo Performance Awards (Grades 1-3)
  • is appropriate for candidates from the ages of 5 years
The Vocational Graded Examination in Dance syllabus:
  • builds on the elements covered in the Graded syllabus, focusing on the performance of ballet to an advanced standard, and is
  • intended for students who wish to pursue a career in dance
  • comprises examinations at six levels from Intermediate Foundation to Solo Seal Award
  • is suitable for candidates form the age of 11 years
Examinations are administered by the RAD Examinations Board. In Australia RAD Vocational Graded qualifications are endorsed by State awarding bodies in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania for credits towards the Certificate of Education. RAD Graded qualifications are recognised in Tasmania for credits toward the Certificate of Education.
